A Dragon Fruit Smoothie is one of my very favorites to make and serve. First of all, it is gorgeous! Really, the color is a bright vibrant magenta that I cannot help but to stop and admire. Secondly, it is low in calories and high in nutrients.
What exactly is Dragon Fruit?
Dragon fruit (Pitahaya) is the fruit cactus plants in the genus Selenicereus and also known as a strawberry pear. It is a sweet fruit that tastes like a mixture of kiwi and pear.
The Many Benefits of Dragon Fruit:
-Excellent source of fiber
-Loaded with beneficial vitamins and minerals (including iron and magnesium)
-Improves gut health
-Rich in antioxidants
-Helps with control of diabetes (encourage growth of pancreatic cells that produce insulin)
-High in Vitamin C
Ways to serve Dragon fruit:
*Add in a fruit salad
*Dice and top yogurt or smoothie bowls
*Toss on top of a green salad
*Infuse water with Dragon Fruit, Lemon, and Mint
*Blend into a beautiful smoothie (my favorite Dragon Fruit recipe below)
Decadent Dragon Fruit Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup Organic Frozen Dragon Fruit allow to slightly thaw
- 8 ounces Organic Coconut Milk or any non dairy milk
- 2 scoops Plant Based Vanilla Protein Powder
- 1 Banana
Instructions
