I consider fall to be the perfect season to start making crafts and gifts that I pass out over the holidays. Taking my time and enjoying the process makes it a fun project, something that would most likely not be the case if I wait until the month of December. One of my favorite ways to unwind at the end of the day is to take a good long soak in the bath tub which led me to discover the best homemade bath salts (and the easiest). I soon began sharing my creations with my friends and family which have become quite popular.
Homemade gifts are special and unique
There is something about taking the time to make and create a gift for someone. The recipient will think of you fondly each time they use it and if you wish, you can create a made especially for you label to attach on the front.. What I love best about these bath salts is that everyone can use them and anyone can make them.
What if the person I am giving them to does not have a bath tub?
Have no fear, these bath salts are just as marvelous as a foot soak. Attach a little notecard that states that the bath salts made be used for a soak in the tub or as a foot bath and list a few of the benefits listed below.
Benefits of Bath Salts:
Each ingredient you put in your bath salts will have benefits and the best part is, they can be customized.
Epson salts, also known as magnesium sulfate helps with constipation, insomnia, and fibromyalgia.
Pink Himalayan salts can help reduce skin irritation and inflammation.
Baking soda will make the water feel silky because it is alkaline. It also helps with skin irritation and itching.
Essential oils and herbs can add benefits such as deep relaxation, fight insomnia, calm skin rashes and irritation,
Budget Friendly Gift
By the time the holidays roll around, we often find more and more names to add on our shopping list. You may be thinking of a few people that you would like to give a little something to this year, but you know your budget is already stretched thin.
Homemade bath salts are a perfect solution!
-Purchase ingredients on sale when possible or in bulk
-Save ribbons, bows, and ties from gifts you receive to use in packaging
-Look in your own pantry before purchasing mason or other glass jars
-Check out garage sales and second hand shops for glass containers and packaging materials. I have had great success with garage sales and have found items that were brand new and cost next to nothing that I have used for gift wrapping all year round. Keep your eye out for antique jars that will really make your gift unique and exquisite.
If you have a garden, consider drying your roses or lavender buds to add in the salts for a great personal touch.
Supplies needed for bath salts:
-Epsom Salts -I get the unscented Epsom salts and add my own essential oil.
-Baking Soda
-Pink Himalayan Salt -course
-Essential Oils -optional
-Dried herbs such as lavender or rosemary are lovely or you can order online from Mountain Rose Herbs.
-Glass jars
–Cheesecloth bag to use in bath tub if you are one that does not like the herbs floating around your tub or want an easy clean up. I like to gift the salts in a pretty jar and send along a few of the cheesecloth bags.
